BI Focus Group Meetings The BI Focus Group already has speakers lined up for 2005!! Please join us on Thursday February 3rd, from 4:30 - 6:30 at SMU Plano for two interesting discussions. Click here for information on our exciting speakers. The first presenter scheduled is Rodney Cole of CLD Solutions. Mr. Cole will be comparing Data Warehouse methodologies and Best Practices. The two he will be highlighting are Bill Inmon's top-down iteration approach and Ralph Kimball's bottom up dimensional star schema approach. For those of you who are new to data warehousing, I am sure that Mr. Cole will provide a great overview. The second presentation is a joint presentation by Decision Technologies and one of their customers, Kerr McGee Energy on the pros and cons of using a pre-built data warehouse vs. building one from the ground up. Last September, the BI Focus Group held a roundtable discussion with DBA's to discuss optimization techniques for large data loads. This meeting was so successful that we have decided to offer a similar type of presentation in April for the front-end reporting tools. Representatives from several major reporting vendors will be available to answer your questions. Refer to the next version of this newsletter for more details. The BI Focus Group hasn't been the only group busy planning for 2005. Please join us on January 6th from 4:30 - 6:30 at the SMU Plano campus for the next Apps Group Meeting.
